Weekly Update

This week we brought some investigators to a rebroadcast of the Womens’ General conference session. It was really swell. General conference always brings the Spirit into meetings in a really cool way. Also our investigator, Claudio, is progressing very well. He started reading the Book of Mormon last week and I believe he’s in 2 Nephi already.

Well this week we have planned three splits. Woohoo! For one whole day we won’t be able to work in our own area because we’ll have to travel two hours to do splits with some sisters in Arroio Grande (an old area of my companion- Sister d.l.T). Well, I know that the Lord will bless our area even more because we also get to help other sisters’ areas grow. It should be great!

I did a split with Sister S. this last week and it was awesome! She is a dedicated Sister missionary. She’ll go far. We found some pretty cool investigators and ended up marking four baptisms. Woohoo!

It’s been a roller coaster this week – work, sleep, work, eat, work, breath, work… Life is good. I feel like I’m working hard, instead of hardly working! Haha! Missionary work is the best kind of work. I hope that next week I have more news to tell you. Love you all! Ciao!

We made tacos today! With some great company- Irmã L (She’s returning to church after a whole lot of time). She’s amazing! And the tacos were great!

The gigantic chapel in Pelotas!

On our way to the Womens General conference with an investigator and a recent convert. We picked amoras (like blackberries) from some random trees to eat on the way.

A salon just for us “Sister” missionaries. :) hahaha

Divisions (Splits) with sister de L and Sister S. It was really great!

Us girls at the leader council. It was so cool!

Working hard

This week was great. It is really crazy doing so many things at a time…. Taking care of your area with your investigators and your ward as well as helping other sisters with their area, their investigators and their ward. It is really great serving other sisters and helping them as well. I find it really fantastic sharing the knowledge I have gained over this year with all of the sisters.

So this week we had an interesting experience. We taught an athiest, and an agnostic (less active) at the same time. We started the lesson normally but it turned into a big discussion. They basically bombarded us with a whole bunch of questions and rebuttals. It was really interesting because I had an answer to bassically all of the questions and doubts they had, however they hardly stopped talking to let us answer. But one thing I realized then is that all of the questioning that they had were not of God. We weren’t able to feel the Spirit like we do normally during lessons because the attacking questions they had left the whole atmosphere tense. So basically I learned ever more that God exists and loves us because he sends the Holy Ghost to testify of the veracity of all of our righteous actions. Yep. The gospel is cool and is very true. :)

This following week is sure to be a week of pure miracles. We are really trying to serve and all that jazz. My companion is awesome!! She serves like absolutely everyone and is a really great friend to me. #SisterDLTforlife!

Weekly Update

So I am really liking this area. It is in the countryside (ish). The bishop is very involved in the missionary work, which is a good sign that the work here in this area will go far. My companion is great! She is from Argentina and is helping me get the ropes with some of my new responsibilities.

I’m not gonna lie- it feels like my time here on the mission is almost up. Now is my time to shine. I want to give my absolute all and help absolutely everyone I can to be strengthened through Jesus Christ. This will come through personal sacrifice but I am very willing to pay the price. I hope that I can reach my full potential out here in Brazil as a missionary. I am really liking missionary work. It is really awesome. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity where you have the authority to invite others to change their life and follow Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for this chance. God is very very good. I love Him very much.

I wonder if you guys will notice that I have changed at all when I come home because I feel that I have changed a great deal. My testimony has changed and has been strengthened so much over this whole year.

General Conference was amazing as usual and it was really great to watch in Portuguese for the last time on the mission. It really was great. There were three talks in a row (during the afternoon Sunday session) that talked about obedience with some really poignant examples (the sharks, the seat belt, and the mud). I really loved the themes of this years conference. It was amazing. I am so grateful for a living prophet and apostles that lead and guide this church and the whole world. They really are inspired men with revelation directly from God. If we heed their counsels I promise to you all they will not lead us astray. Study their talks!!!

Love you all to pieces!!
